President Trump has repeatedly downplayed anxieties surrounding artificial intelligence in recent weeks, maintaining that additional regulatory measures are not necessary. While speaking on Saturday, he announced plans to appoint a fresh AI advisor, referred to as the "AI czar," alongside assembling a dedicated "AI task force," yet he provided no specifics regarding either initiative or how they would be executed.

Bessent has already been entrusted by Trump with a leading role in reshaping U.S. trade policy, spearheading negotiations with Ukraine over critical minerals, and temporarily assuming control of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. He also serves as acting head of the Internal Revenue Service; under his direction, the Treasury Department is currently driving efforts to economically isolate Iran through sanctions and other measures.
