On the morning of September 19, a special cultural performance titled "Building a Strong National Defense Together, Safeguarding a Clean Cyberspace" took place at Wenwu Square. The event was organized by the Publicity Department of the Gongcheng County Committee and the County Cyberspace Administration Office, with support from the Gongcheng Hongtu Scenic Area Management Co., Ltd.

As part of the 2026 "Our Chinese Dream — Culture for Every Household" benefit performances and new-era civilized practice activities, this event was closely tied to the themes of National Defense Education Day and Cybersecurity Awareness Week. Through a blend of cultural performances, legal education, and interactive engagement, the event aimed to strengthen local Yao community residents' awareness of national defense and enhance their ability to safeguard cybersecurity from their own doorsteps.

Cultural Enrichment: A Blend of Artistry and Security Awareness

The performance opened with the dance number "Striving for Happiness" and lasted about 60 minutes, featuring a variety of acts including dance, solo singing, allegro, and song-and-dance routines. The allegro piece "National Defense Security in Mind" used a lively rhythm to convey security knowledge effectively. The ethnic dance "Drying Yao Brocade" showcased the rich local Yao customs, while the children's dance "Little Moon Outside the City" exuded youthful vitality. Other performances, such as "Clear Waters and Green Mountains," "The Direction of the Party Flag," and "Call of the Sky," followed in succession, culminating in a grand finale with "Blossoming China."

Interactive Legal Education: Learning Through Fun, Knowledge at Heart

During intervals between performances, two rounds of interactive knowledge quizzes energized the crowd. The cybersecurity quiz covered topics such as the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China, risks associated with free Wi-Fi, anti-fraud and anti-deception practices, personal information protection, and safe internet usage. The national defense education quiz introduced concepts like National Defense Education Day, the National Defense Education Law, and the shared responsibility of the entire society. Residents eagerly participated, with correct answers rewarded with commemorative gifts, creating a lively yet orderly atmosphere.

On-Site Promotion: Visible Knowledge, Portable Takeaways

A dedicated publicity exhibition area was also set up at the venue, featuring themed display boards that presented cybersecurity regulations, anti-fraud knowledge, and national defense education content. Staff members and volunteers engaged directly with the crowd, explaining everyday internet risks and key points for protecting teenagers online, as well as answering residents' questions. Informational brochures on cybersecurity, national defense education, conscription publicity, and the "Combating Pornography and Illegality – Protecting Minors" initiative were distributed on-site. Practical cultural merchandise, such as eco-friendly canvas bags and promotional fans, were also given away, making security knowledge both "visible" and "portable," much to the delight of attendees.

"The performances were wonderful, and the Q&A sessions were practical — I learned anti-fraud tips right at my doorstep," said one audience member. Many residents expressed that free Wi-Fi, unfamiliar links, and SMS verification codes all pose potential risks; they also noted that national defense is not solely the responsibility of the military — everyone plays a role as a guardian of national security.

Moving forward, the Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County will continue to uphold a holistic approach to national security, innovate formats, and expand scenarios. The goal is to promote national defense education, cybersecurity awareness, and the "Combating Pornography and Illegality – Protecting Minors" initiative deeper into communities and households, continuously reinforcing the foundation for a clean cyberspace and social stability.
