Janus Henderson Investors announced on September 21 two senior investment leadership appointments within its global equities division.

Helen Jewell will officially join the firm on December 1, 2026, assuming the role of Head of Equities for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, based in London. Shilpee Raina will take on the position of lead portfolio manager for the flagship Large Cap Growth Fund and the Transition Growth ETF, working alongside current manager Brian Recht. Raina is scheduled to start on January 1, 2027, and will be based in New York.

Jewell succeeds Lucas Klein, who is retiring from the asset management industry after nearly three decades of service across the financial and professional services sectors. Raina replaces departing manager Nick Schommer, who spent 13 years at Janus Henderson. Following Schommer's exit, Ed Su will continue in his role as manager of the Janus Henderson Contrarian Strategy Fund.

In her new capacity, Jewell will lead the firm's equity portfolio management and research teams across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region, while also joining the Janus Henderson executive committee. Prior to joining Janus Henderson, Jewell served at BlackRock, where she held the position of International Chief Investment Officer for Active Fundamental Equities before her departure, overseeing investment governance for the non-U.S. active fundamental equity platform, including research management, investment processes, portfolio manager talent development, and external communications. During her tenure of more than a decade at BlackRock, she held various roles, including Chief Investment Officer for Fundamental Equities in the EMEA region and Global Head of Active Fundamental Equity Research. Earlier in her career, she spent ten years at Goldman Sachs, where she served as Deputy Head of Research for the EMEA region within the Global Investment Research division. Her professional journey began in the utilities investment banking group at Deutsche Bank.

Raina will assume the role of lead portfolio manager for the Janus Henderson Forty Fund and the Transition Growth Fund, with Brian Recht continuing as co-manager on both products. The pairing leverages Raina's more than two decades of large-cap equity investment experience alongside Recht's deep understanding of the investment strategy, further supported by Janus Henderson's top-tier active fundamental research platform. The team will maintain its established investment philosophy, adhering to a high-conviction, concentrated portfolio approach focused on identifying high-quality companies with durable competitive advantages and long-term growth potential. Prior to joining Janus Henderson, Raina was employed at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where she served as co-portfolio manager for the Large Cap Core Equity strategy within the U.S. equity division. Earlier, she held roles as an industry research analyst covering the consumer sector for the J.P. Morgan Equity Income Fund and the U.S. Value Fund. She joined J.P. Morgan Asset Management in 2005.
