The final round of the 11th "Maker in China" Additive Manufacturing SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition recently concluded at the Shoulv Hangfa Airport Hotel in Luzhou's Longmatan District, marking the first time the national-level event dedicated a special session to a single industry, attracting 36 teams from 18 provinces and cities nationwide.
Why did this national competition favor Luzhou and choose Longmatan as its stage? "Selecting Luzhou, a region with rich innovation resources and a well-established industrial ecosystem, was the core reason," said Fu Jingbo, Director of the Information Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. As the core hub for Luzhou's additive manufacturing industry, Longmatan now hosts 11 related enterprises and successfully established the province's only full-chain metal additive manufacturing cluster in 2025. From January to May this year, the district's additive manufacturing output reached 410 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 427%.
The rapid rise of additive manufacturing is a microcosm of Longmatan's high-quality industrial development. In recent years, the district has pursued a dual-drive strategy of upgrading traditional industries and nurturing emerging ones. Its economic output is poised to historically surpass the 50 billion yuan mark, a 10 billion yuan increase from the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, firmly maintaining its position as the city's leading tier.

From assisting in organizing the Sichuan-Chongqing Industrial Collaboration Conference to hosting a national-level themed competition, Longmatan's additive manufacturing industry has stepped into the national spotlight as a rising star within just one year. Inside the production facility of Luzhou Hanfei Aerospace Technology, over 40 metal 3D printers are operating at full capacity, where high-energy lasers melt and solidify metal powder layer by layer to produce aerospace engine blades and structural components with micron-level precision.
Compared to traditional forging processes, 3D printing both reduces component weight and significantly lowers production costs, explained Zhuo Lei, Deputy General Manager of Hanfei Technology. The company's orders are fully booked for the year, with annual output expected to exceed 100 million yuan. As the district's first metal additive manufacturing enterprise, Hanfei Technology has built a 30,000-square-meter production center and was recognized in 2023 as one of the national typical application scenarios for additive manufacturing—the only company in the province to receive this designation.
The medical and health sector is also achieving cross-disciplinary breakthroughs. Sichuan Turing Zhifang Medical Technology is deeply engaged in the "additive manufacturing plus healthcare" track, using 3D printing to precisely fabricate bone repair components for spines, pelvises, and skulls, enabling the restoration and replacement of diseased areas. The company also plans to develop integrated intelligent radiotherapy equipment, filling a gap in Luzhou's medical additive manufacturing field. It has already established metal and light-curing production lines, achieving mass production and application of both non-implantable and permanent implant products.
While metal additive manufacturing serves aerospace "in the sky" and empowers medical health "in the body," non-metal additive manufacturing is entering everyday life. In February 2026, the country's first 3D-printed consumer flagship store, "Bowuzhi," opened in Longmatan, offering integrated shoes, custom bags, and artistic accessories that attract residents eager to experience the technology. Additive manufacturing has officially transitioned from industrial workshops to the mass consumer market.
Beyond additive manufacturing, emerging tracks are expanding on multiple fronts. A 7 billion yuan lithium battery anode material project by Zhongke Electric has been launched, expected to generate over 6 billion yuan in annual output once completed. Sectors such as new energy and the digital economy continue to break through, steadily growing the district's emerging industry matrix. From aerospace blades to custom footwear, and from bone repair components to industrial machine tools, Longmatan's additive manufacturing is completing its industrial blueprint, moving from "sky and body applications" to "deep-rooted local implementation."
Traditional Industries Embrace Innovation, Ushering in a New Era of Smart Manufacturing
The flourishing growth of emerging tracks has not diminished traditional industries; instead, it has injected fresh momentum for digital transformation. Luzhou's three traditional pillars—baijiu, equipment manufacturing, and modern agriculture—are being reshaped through intelligence, green practices, and digitalization.
In the manufacturing sector, a transformation from "creating molds" to "one-click printing" is underway. At Sichuan Haigong Technology, technicians simply import a 3D model into the system, and the equipment automatically analyzes parameters to precisely print sand molds and cores. In the past, developing molds for each new product could take one to two months; now it can be completed in as little as a day, noted Pu Yujie, the company's Deputy General Manager. Haigong Technology's shift from traditional casting to 3D-printed smart manufacturing exemplifies Longmatan's equipment manufacturing industry moving toward innovation. To date, the district has cultivated 22 national and provincial-level manufacturing champions and specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative enterprises, with the pyrotechnic equipment industry creating the city's first national small and medium-sized enterprise characteristic industrial cluster.
The agricultural sector is equally technology-driven. Wu Tianhua, a farmer in Xueluo Village, Jinlong Town, used plant protection drones to precisely spray pesticides on his 5 mu of rapeseed in high-standard farmland—a task that once took two days of manual labor is now completed in just over ten minutes. In Liang'ao Village, Shuangjia Town, the Tianlongqiao Ecological Breeding Cooperative has attempted fully mechanized planting on 200 mu of rice paddies for the first time, using drones for sowing and fertilization and harvesters for reaping, saving over 200 yuan per mu compared to traditional manual methods. From "knowing how to farm" to "farming smartly," Longmatan's fields are radiating new technological vitality. Currently, all large-scale farming operators in the district have achieved complete mechanized operations based on land "mechanization-friendly" improvements.
Digital transformation in the baijiu industry is being rolled out comprehensively. At Luzhou Guobao Tianniang Group's Shidong brewing base, the traditional scene of workers toiling over fermenting grains has been replaced by robotic arms precisely loading materials and automated rail systems flexibly coordinating operations. The intelligent stereoscopic warehouse at Langjiu's Nongjiang Jianxiang production area, operational since late 2023, can store 12,000 tons of finished liquor, handle an annual turnover of 150,000 tons, and achieve an hourly throughput of 20,000 cases—five times more efficient than traditional rack warehouses. Luzhou Laojiao's罗汉 Brewing Ecological Park has completed its renovation, establishing a 100,000-ton fully automated high-speed bottling line and a 300,000-piece automated three-dimensional finished goods warehouse.
Green transformation is also advancing in tandem. Luzhou Yujiu's old workshop has introduced electric steam grain distillation equipment, recovering production waste heat through heat pump technology, cutting production costs by over 50% and reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by 80%. With leading enterprises driving comprehensive upgrades across the region, the baijiu industry has established a synergistic framework of intelligent production and green manufacturing. From workshops to fields, and from robotic arms to drones, the "smart transformation" of traditional industries is redefining Longmatan's industrial landscape.
Consumer Scenarios Expand and Upgrade, Unleashing New Vitality Through Cultural and Tourism Integration
The transformation and upgrading at the production end continue to transmit momentum to the consumption end, driving the expansion and quality enhancement of Longmatan's consumer scenarios. The full opening of the North Riverside Road has cut travel time from the city center to Hushi Town to just 10 minutes, directly invigorating agricultural, cultural, and tourism projects along the route. The trendy restaurant "Jiangshang Guili" offers medicinal soup hotpots and charcoal-fired black bean tofu, brimming with rustic flavors. Camping bases at "Guixi Island" and peach and plum picking bases are rapidly advancing, with a suburban leisure node integrating sightseeing, picking, and fishing taking shape. An initial business layout of "dining, picking, and camping" has emerged along the corridor.
In Longmatan today, the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism is steadily gaining warmth. The wine-tourism integration track also showcases impressive highlights. The Langjiu Longma Winery, with a total investment of 15 billion yuan and a planned area of approximately 5,000 mu, is accelerating construction. Its wine-tourism cultural experience zone covers 528 mu with over 260,000 square meters of floor space, encompassing more than ten functional formats, including a brand experience hall, the Longmatai Banquet and Performance Center, themed hotels, and a bar district. Longxihe Winery has been named one of Sichuan Province's top ten exemplars of wine-tourism integration, while Yunduan Qilin Winery is building the nation's first aerial baijiu estate. The "Zheyouguang" 24-hour cultural and tourism district continues to radiate vibrant energy, with events like the Wine Expo Carnival and Park Ninth Street Food Festival unfolding one after another, constantly refreshing consumer experiences through the fusion of fine wine, gourmet food, and cultural tourism.
Furthermore, diverse commercial platforms are taking shape rapidly. Xueshishan Park Ninth Street, positioned as an "open street district with immersive experiences," fills the gap for large-scale centralized commerce in the northern urban area. The Longma High School Phase II commercial complex is about to be put into use, directly addressing the lack of large commercial amenities around the school. The Southwest Green Automobile Industry City has been fully completed, breaking away from the traditional asset-heavy 4S store model by aggregating full-chain services, including new car exhibitions, maintenance and modification, and used car trading.
