The town's Agricultural and Rural Development Service Center, in collaboration with the county agricultural science bureau and Chia Tai Seed Company, conducted an on-site yield measurement and verification of the Chia Tai series corn varieties. Agronomists and local farmers gathered in the fields to evaluate seed performance through standardized testing and to promote scientific cultivation techniques, solidifying the foundation for a stable grain harvest.
Field measurement operations proceeded in an orderly fashion, with technicians strictly adhering to standard crop assessment procedures. They used measuring tapes to delineate sample plots, randomly selected measurement points, and collected corn ears for sampling. Through a series of regulated steps—including on-site shelling, bagging, weighing, data calculation, and moisture adjustment—each set of data was precisely recorded to ensure accurate, scientific, and reliable results. Surrounding farmers observed the demonstration, carefully following the procedures and exchanging their own cultivation experiences.
"This year, Weiyuan Town's total corn planting area exceeds 80,000 mu, with hybrid varieties accounting for 80,000 mu. Our joint field testing with the seed company aims to precisely verify the local adaptability and yield advantages of premium corn varieties," explained Ye Hua, senior agronomist at the Weiyuan Town Agricultural and Rural Development Service Center. "Through standardized measurement protocols, we select seeds best suited to Weiyuan's soil and climate conditions, while also demonstrating scientific planting methods directly to farmers. By combining superior seeds with advanced techniques, we can effectively boost corn output and quality, supporting stable and increased grain production."
The measurement activity was paired with a farmer high-yield competition incentive scheme, motivating growers to adopt scientific management and meticulous cultivation through reward-based recognition. Many farmers stayed for the entire demonstration, absorbing knowledge and sharing insights. Zhou Xinglin, head of the Hewan village group, remarked: "This year's corn variety has performed excellently—sturdy stalks, large ears, and strong resistance to disease and drought. Previously, we relied purely on experience. Now, with agronomists providing on-site guidance and measurement, we've acquired many scientific farming techniques. Seeing the tangible yield improvements, we'll definitely continue with this premium variety next year. Planting with technical support gives us confidence, and harvests will only improve."
