Thailand's Foreign Minister, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, stated on Thursday that negotiations with the United States over a tariff agreement are still underway, with market access remaining one of the major unresolved sticking points between the two nations.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Sihasak noted, "We are currently in serious consultations with the U.S. on tariff matters." He added, "We are not a superpower, so the only path forward is through negotiation. We are striving for the best possible deal and making concessions within our capacity."

At present, the majority of Thailand's relevant exports to the U.S. are subject to a tariff rate of 12.5%.
