Starbucks (SBUX) is considering selling a majority stake in its Japan business in a deal that could value it at $3 billion, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The company is weighing options for its Japan business but is yet to determine the size of the stake sale or its valuation, according to the report.

Starbucks acquired full control of the business in 2014 for about $914 million, the report said.

Starbucks did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
