Amazon.com (AMZN) and Alphabet-backed (GOOG, GOOGL) Anthropic has signed its first data center deal in Australia, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing two unnamed people familiar with the matter.
The lease is for a 2.16 gigawatt total capacity data center campus on agricultural land around 150 miles from Brisbane, the report said.
The data center is to begin coming online in 2027, according to the report, adding that the facility would be powered by renewable energy.
Anthropic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
