Critica (ASX:CRI) said a second high-grade mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) was produced from the Jupiter rare earth project in Western Australia, which achieved around 58% grade of total rare earth oxide (TREO), according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

The MREC was produced by the Australian Minmet Metallurgical Laboratories and closely replicates the 58% grade of TREO MREC previously produced by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization.

Heavy rare earth oxide content increased to around 3.66% in the latest MREC, up from 2.41% in the first MREC, including higher concentrations of dysprosium and terbium. The latest MREC also delivered increased magnet rare earth oxide content of 15%, compared with 14.1% in the previous MREC.
