Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh opened his press conference emphasizing that the Fed is committed to fighting inflation. "The plain fact is that inflation is too high and has been for too long," he said.
Too many categories are showing annual price increases above 3% and underlying inflation trends have "not meaningfully improved," Warsh said. At the same time, Warsh touted a healthy job market and a low unemployment rate, removing an argument for keeping rates lower. "I would be hard pressed to describe broad financial conditions as restrictive," he said.
