GlobalFoundries, Marvell Sign Agreement to Boost Silicon Germanium Technology Capacity

GlobalFoundries (GFS) and Marvell Technology (MRVL) said Thursday they will increase capacity for GlobalFoundries' silicon germanium technology at its facility in Burlington, Vermont, under an expanded multiyear agreement.

GlobalFoundries' silicon germanium technology is used in pluggable optical transceivers, Near-Packaged Optics and Co-packaged Optics, supporting growing demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure, the companies said.

GlobalFoundries and Marvell shares were up 4.9% and 4.8%, respectively, in premarket activity Thursday.
