AutoZone Beats Earnings Estimates but Same-Store Sales Miss. the Stock Trades Higher.

Shares of AutoZone rose on Tuesday after the auto-parts retailer surpassed Wall Street's quarterly earnings expectations even as sales came in below forecasts.
The company posted earnings of $56.05 a share in the fiscal fourth quarter ended Aug. 29, up from $48.71 a year ago and above Wall Street's expectation for $54.08. Net sales grew 5.6% to $6.59 billion, missing the analyst consensus call for $6.7 billion, according to FactSet.
AutoZone reported that total same-store sales increased 1.5% on a constant currency basis in the quarter, missing Wall Street's forecast for a 3.8% increase.
AutoZone stock rose 1.8% to $2,852.45 in premarket trading on Tuesday after ending Monday down 1.8%. The stock has fallen 6.3% in September and has declined 17% this year as of the closing bell on Monday.
